Sunday June 3

No moth trapping and no birdwatching today.

However, a quick look at the front garden produced a familiar day-flying micro in the form of a Pyrausta aurata.

Pyrausta aurata
This one looks a bit worn and more brown than purple.

Come the early evening, back from visiting my mum in hospital, I was making a cup of coffee when I noticed a small moth on the outside of the kitchen window. I was pretty sure I knew what it was, so I grabbed my camera to get a few shots of the first Small Dusty Wave of the year.

Small Dusty Wave
This is a very common moth, and we get one or two in the bathroom every year.
